GoodBye 2011, Hello 2012!!!

‎2011 is coming to a close and as many of you I have reflected on it...the good, the bad & the ugly of '11...as for 2012 I know there are going to be hard times, I'm no fool...I know that we might lose one or the other this year...we might hit personal bumps in the road & become down, finding the upside will be hard...but I know family, far & near will help power through it...I know that what I plan on to achieve will be tough, but I WILL DO IT!!!

I know in the past year I may not have been the best Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Nephew or Friend...I can't change what was but I can change what will be...so if I fall under one of those choices & I have upset or offended you...well then so be it, it's taking it's place in the pages of history of 2011, let's do our best to move past it and make 2012 a much better year!!!

So I am sorry!!!

So watch out 2012, I am gunning for you...I am coming into the New Year with high hopes...mama always said "Shoot high, but aim low", so that is what I will do...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! & MUCH SUCCESS TO ALL OF YOU, HOW EVER YOU DEFINE IT!!!

Kalweit Photography

A quick note from me.  After prompting from a few family and friends I have decided to take the first of many steps in a new direction.

For years I have enjoyed taking pictures, although I am currently a novice I have taken some rather well pictures.  I have decided to enroll in to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division for Photography and gather more knowledge, better techniques and hone the skills that I currently have.  I have also decide to start a page on facebook to showcase some of my work, which you are encouraged to join.  I will upload pictures not just from the present but from the past as well.

I will kindly except any questions or pointers, but I do ask that even with the copyright name across my pictures that you DO NOT in anyway use as your own or for your own personal use.  If you feel so incline to own a copy of a print please contact me and I will be more then happy to provide you with a print of your choice for a fair price.

I would like to Thank You for your support.

Break it down for us...

On Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:54 am I made my very first blog.  So today I thought I would go back and look at the stats on viewership, location of viewers, browsers used, etc…

So after 7 months and 10 blog entries later here are the numbers:

355 all time views, out of that this is how the audience breaks down:

Untied States 309
Russia              18
Ukraine            6
Canada             3
U.K.                    3
Netherlands    3
Australia          2
Germany          2
France              1
India                 1

It shows me a total of 355 all time views but when you add it up it comes to 348, not sure why but hey I will take it.

Now out of that browsers used are as follows:

38% use Internet Explorer
26% use Firefox
12% use Safari
8%   use Chrome
5%   use Mobile Safari
4%   use Mobile
2%   use Opera
<1% use Net Front

The operating systems used are as follows:

72% Windows
12% Macintosh
6%    iPhone
5%    Android
1%    Linux
<1% BlackBerry
<1% iPad
<1% Samsung
<1% other unix
<1% iPod

I have to say that the broad spectrum of different uses here are awesome, although we can clearly see who the winner is for main usage.

You viewers have found me via different searches here are just some examples:

Some have found this blog through key word searches or referring sites such as www.book-kitten.blogspot.com.

But through it all I have gained 1, just 1 follower and 3 comments not including mine, which would bring the total to 5 comments.  The most viewed blog was the one titled Nick & Kelly’s Wedding with “You Got Mail” & Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry tied for second at 26 all time views.

So I want to say Thank You for those of you that have over the past 7 months come here to this blog and looked at it, please leave me comments/feedback, ask questions.  I hope that in the next few months if and when I do another breakdown like this we can see huge growth and a little better in the follower’s area.

So Thank You again to all of you...

I Know & I Will!!!

So I know I like to take photo's, I know that some of the ones I take are excellent and if I had to pay for them I would.  I know I want to capture a moment in time, that when someone goes back and looks at it brings a smile, a tear, a memory to the foreground.  I know I can do it & I know I can succeed at it, I know I just need a chance, an oppurtunity, that first chance.

But until then I shall take the pictures I like, I will find people that will let me take their photo and add it to the pages of their history.

So Here are a few Pictures I have taken...I hope you enjoyed.

AND PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT GOOD, BAD OR INDIFFERENT!!!!

also is you have any suggestions on what you would like to see again leave a message or email me at wilhelm.kalweit@gmail.com

Nick & Kelly's Wedding

I made this video from the pictures I took at my sister-in-law's wedding....the music is by the Plain White T's and Taylor Swift...their songs just fit so perfectly on a perfect day.

The video is of low quality on here due to size...so please take that in to consideration.

I hope they enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it for them....

Our own Back Yard!

In the past weeks we all have seen the news reports about the tornado's that ripped through the south land leaving many grieving the loss of loved ones as well as property. We sit here tonight reading headlines on MSN, Yahoo, CNN or other various sites and we might have forgotten about the ones that no longer have that luxury. At this point in time they no longer have the good things in life, things that we don't even think about. Many that read this know who Deanna Baker is, many may not.

Deanna is a grade school friend that currently lives in Alabama and she was one of the lucky ones that escaped the wrath of the tornado's, but she lives just miles some cases blocks from the destruction. She is helping and doing her part with trying to bring some back to her community.

So my question to myself and to you is can we give a loving hand in all of this. Weather it is a little or a lot, really it doesn't matter anything that you can do would help. Below is a list of items Deanna sent me that we can send down there to help.

Non-perishable food Canned food
can openers
baby items clothes and shoes (it's hot here so summer clothes)
paper products (plates, cups, paper towels)
Towels and rags
gargage bags
tarps
personal hygiene
and I even read a local fire department is in need of sunscreen and chapstick cleaning supplies message me, email me, if you know Deanna contact her. Let's give to those that have nothing.

Kids can teach us something...

I realize that blogs don’t need to be long or short stories but rather little blurbs of life written down to show a brief insight into ones thoughts.

So that is what I am going to do today.

Yesterday, I walked into our bedroom only to find the jewelry box, on the bed, opened and Brooke-Lynn going through it.  As you can imagine that sight did not make me to happy.  I yelled at both Payton and Brooke-Lynn, told them they were naughty and that they need to apologize to mommy for what they had done.  Now the mind of a child amazes me, a pre-teen can’t remember what you tell them but a 3 year old can.

Mommy finally came home, Payton walked up to her mommy, sad face and all, looks at her and says “Mommy I’m sorry, I’m sorry for playing with your jewelry box” arms extended looks at mommy and asks her “do you forgive me”.  How awesome is that.  All day she remembered and when it came time she not just said sorry but asked for forgiveness.

Can’t we all take a lesson from our children?

On a side note Brooke-Lynn as now figured out how to climb up on to the dresser.  If you would like to hear how she gets up there leave me a comment.

Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry

On Jan. 21, 2011 we packed lunches, charged the cameras, called Anthony off of school, bundled up the girls and headed downtown to go to the Museum of Science and Industry.

With train tickets and of course coffee in hand we waited for our ride in to the city.  Side note here, Payton loves the choo-choo.  Every time we pass by the train station or we head over to the Richton Perk Coffee Shop, she wants to see the trains; she wants to go for a ride so to say the least she was on cloud nine.  The night before Payton and I got onto Google Earth and mapped out the train tracks to our stop right in Hyde Park.  I told her about all the cool things she would see and even showed her some of the exhibits via the MSI website and Google Earth with that the excitement grew.

We spent the whole day there from open to close, which can easily be done and then some.  The kids loved seeing the baby chicks, the huge model train with the city skyline, of course Payton love seeing the real trains.  Anthony got to make the flaps and landing gear go down on the United 747 that hangs from the ceiling.  I put on a Muppet/puppet show at the Jim Henson exhibit that is currently running their, I even got more to sit down then just my kids.  Darcie and Anthony stood in a chamber that simulates hurricane force winds, that was funny to watch.  In the same wing, I want to say it’s called the Forces of Nature, Darcie had fun making Tornado’s in these little table top chambers, it was great.

This was just a fraction of what we did and saw.  With so much to do at MSI I have to say that it never really gets old.

Next trip we're thinking Field Museum?

United Airlines 747
Model of Willis aka Sears Tower

Fire, forgot what this was for,
but it looked cool
